Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has assured that the NYSC Orientation Camp in the State will soon receive a facelift, as Corps members serving in the State are set to begin receiving an additional ₦20,000 monthly allowance.

The Governor gave the assurance when he received the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, and his team at Government House, Enugu, on Monday.

The Enugu NYSC Orientation Camp is located in Awgu Local Government Area of the State.

A historic landmark, it was the first camp in Nigeria to host Corps members when the scheme was introduced in 1973.

But today, the facilities are deteriorating, requiring urgent renovation, a challenge the Enugu State Government says it is ready to address.

Governor Peter Mbah, while receiving the Director General of the scheme, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at the Lion Building, promised that the camp will soon receive a facelift.

Governor Peter Mbah stressed that his administration remains committed to the welfare and security of Corps members in Enugu State – a position the NYSC DG , Brigadier General Nafiu, acknowledged.

He noted that many Corps members posted to the State often prefer to remain even after completing their service year.

The NYSC DG, also disclosed to journalists that Corps members serving in Enugu will soon begin to enjoy the additional ₦20,000 monthly allowance, courtesy of the State government.
