‎The Nigerian Minister Of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali has expressed confidence that the approval of the National Land Transportation Policy will guarantee regulation and safety on the country’s roads.
‎
‎Senator Alkali made this remark in Abuja during an interactive session with Journalists under the auspices of Abuja Transportation And Aviation Correspondents (ATACA), who paid him a courtesy call at his office.
‎
‎The Minister pointed out that the policy is first of its kind in Nigeria, adding that the transportation sector is the most burdened, yet with enormous potential.

‎To further straighten security on the roads, Alkali stated that the Federal government will be insisting on the use of manifests for passengers, whether the buses belong to the government or private individuals.
‎
‎He also highlighted on-going developments in the rail sector, noting that the Federal government has put the eastern narrow gauge from Port Harcourt to Aba into use since 2024, and is working towards the realization of the corridor from Kaduna to Kano before the end of 2026.
‎
‎Another on-going project is the Kano-Katsina railway, with a branch line in Jigawa State where the Minister said the laying of tracks has already begun.
