Ten Nigerians with varying degrees of prolonged heart diseases have undergone successful free open heart surgeries at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano under King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center from Saudi Arabia.
Team lead for the mission, Abdullah Shumik said the cardiothoracic intervention is one among several offered by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in Nigeria.
Shumik says the intervention aims at relieving the huge financial burden on patients as well as strengthening existing ties between the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.
According to him, open heart surgeries are very expensive if the costs are to be borne by the patients.

It was an emotional moment for some beneficiaries, whose hope of staying alive is enhanced by the king’s act of kindness.
The Saudi Arabian surgeons acknowledged the collaborative efforts of Nigerian doctors and other health professionals at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in ensuring seamless procedures for both the patients with heart diseases and those attended to in other categories.
