The police in Niger State have arrested 6 suspects for allegedly vandalising and stealing a 33 KVA transformer at an uncomplicated building along Kaduna road.
In a statement, police spokesman in the state, Wasi’u Abiodun said their arrest followed credible intelligence received at Maje Division that 28-year-old Mustapha Haladu and his accomplice, a 26-year-old Abubakar Ibrahim from the same area, were planning to dispose of a suspected stolen 300KVA transformer in the night.
Abiodun said on receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer of Maje mobilised his patrol team and embarked on constant patrol of the area and at about 4am on August 21, a yellow truck carrying the said transformer, driven by 32-year-old Aliyu Sadi was intercepted.
The two suspects, Mustapha Haladu and Abubakar Ibrahim, were also found in the vehicle escorting the item from Akilbu village, Kaduna State.

The police spokesman further said that upon interrogation, the suspects could not give a satisfactory account or tender any document to prove the ownership of the transformer.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that they planned to dismantle the transformer and sell the parts.
Following the development, 3 other accomplices 28-year-old Isya Yusha’u, 20-year-old Usama Abdullahi and 25-year-old Usman Suleiman, all of residents on Kaduna road, were arrested.
Abiodun stated that all the suspects are under investigation and will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Minna, for further investigation.
