The latest rejection makes it the fifth time Buhari will decline assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
The President refused to sign the amendment which approved the use of card readers in the build-up to the 2019 general elections and under the 8th National Assembly.

With less than 14 months to the next general elections in 2023; Buhari has again withheld his signature; denying opportunities for the provision (Section 52) that approves the use of Electronic Transmission of Election Results; a provision many believe will greatly improve the credibility of Nigeria’s serially flawed electoral processes.
