Delta state governor Sheriff Oborevwori says his administration is committed to working in partnership with the federal government to ensure effective utilisation of ports domiciled in the state.
Gov Oborevwori said this when he received the visiting Board of Directors of the Nigerian Ports Authority led by its Chairman, Adedayo Adeyeye
The Governor urged the Federal Government to consider reviving the Warri, Koko, Sapele and Burutu Ports all in Delta state instead of constructing new ones, saying this will not only unlock the economic potential of Delta state but also create employment and stimulate trade within and beyond the state
The governor described Delta as Nigeria’s maritime with four security enhanced ports that guarantees investors ease of doing business without undue community interference.

He said the cordial relationship between his administration and the Federal government had brought positive results to the people of the state
The Nigerian Ports Authority Board Chairman said after its inauguration, a few months ago, it is on a nationwide tour of ports to assess the challenges faced and proffer solutions to them.
He identified the casting of fish nets against international practices, under utilisation of facilities, collapsed bays and shallow drafts as some of the challenges and reiterated the need for a deep seaport that will accommodate and a large vessels.
