Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM), have joined the nationwide protest, calling on all well-meaning Nigerians, including traditional institutions, and the National Assembly, to prevail on the government to do the needful to avert an avoidable crisis in the university system.
Chairperson of ASUU-FUAM, Comrade Paul Anyagh, who led the demonstration after their Congress, said it is in line with the resolutions of the National Executive Council.
The union warned that unless proactive steps are taken to address their demands, the country could face another round of prolonged shutdown of academic activities.

The ASUU members also decried the plight of retired academics who, after decades of service, are subject to paltry pensions that cannot sustain them in today’s harsh economy.
Avert a crisis by renewing the hope of lectures and the education sector at large, the ASUU leaders advised.
Any disruption of academic activities should be placed squarely on the government, they warned.
