‎Turkish giants Fenerbahce Sports Club, have announced the sacking of Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho, after just one season in charge of the team.
‎
‎In a statement released on Friday, the club said it had parted ways with the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss, who took over at the beginning of the 2024/2025 season.
‎
‎Mourinho, 62, joined Fenerbahce in June 2024.
‎
However, his spell ended prematurely after a mixed run of results in domestic and European competitions.
‎
Mourinho did not win any silverware during his stay as Fenerbahce coach. The team was knocked out of the Turkish Cup in the quarter-finals and also lost to Rangers in the Europa League round of 16 last season

The Turkish side lost 1-0 to Benfica in their crucial Champions League play-off second leg on Wednesday night, after a goalless draw in Istanbul last week.

According to Turkish media outlet Spor Arena, Mourinho’s relationship with the Fenerbahce board has been tense during the summer transfer window, with the former Manchester United boss criticising the club’s strategy.

The Turkish giants have brought in the likes of Nelson Semedo and former Aston Villa starlet John Duran this summer as they bid to win back the Turkish Super Lig crown, but the moves were not enough to satisfy Mourinho.

His 11th managerial job has now come to an end, and he leaves Fenerbahce seventh in the league with four points after two games.

Mourinho is the second former Man Utd coach to lose their job with a Turkish giant this week.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by Besiktas last night following their surprising Conference League exit at the hands of Swiss side Lausanne.
