The Cherubim and Seraphim Church Unification of Nigeria has expressed deep concerns over its inability, after a century of existence, to break racial barriers noting that, to date, no person of black descent from Europe, America, or Asia has been recognized as prophet within the church.

The concern was raised during a press conference in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, as part of activities marking the centenary celebration of the church’s global existence.

Speaking through Pastor Ademola Popoola, the Chairman of the Kwara State Chapter of the Unification of Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Worldwide, Prophet Elisha Adebisi Fabiyi, called for the complete abolishment of all forms of double standards within the church’s leadership structure.

According to the church, this lack of diversity remains troubling, especially in a time when even small spiritual groups have members from various ethnic backgrounds.

The Church leaders also raised alarm over growing moral and doctrinal issues within the church, including creeping influences of lesbianism, polyandry, and what they described as excesses among some women founders.

He emphasized the urgent need for the church to invest in its youth, harness their skills and intellect, and move away from rigid dogmatic traditions that conflict with the evolving understanding of faith in modern times.

Also speaking at another event, the President of the International Women Fellowship of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Prophetess Victoria Erinfolami, voiced concern over the worsening state of the nation.

She cited economic hardship, inflation, rising cases of kidnappings, terrorism, and killings across the country. Calling for sincere prayers and national repentance to overcome these challenges.

The leadership of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church remains optimistic, stating that God is the only deliverer, and will rescue Nigeria from the grip of evil and restore peace and harmony to the land.
