Alia Moves To Review Tax Law For Capital Projects

The Benue state government has disclosed plans to review its tax laws to generate more revenue to complete road projects and other critical infrastructure.

Acting Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Joseph Kwaghgba made this known in Makurdi the State capital during a sensitization campaign Town Hall meeting for a fair, simple, and people-friendly tax system to boost the state’s economy.

Two years into the govenor Hyacinth Alia led administration, over twenty five township roads have been constructed while alot more alongside underpass projects are under construction, most of which is co-funded from taxes generated by the state internal revenue services.

For more of such projects to be executed
the state Internal Revenue Service, is targeting more tax income by reviewing tax laws, simplifying collection and eradicating multiple taxation with crucial imput from traders, traditional rulers and business owners at this town hall meeting

The Acting Chairman of BIRS Joseph Kwaghgba
says he is committed to building stronger partnerships with traders and seeks to address their concerns while using taxes to build infrastructure.

The database for income assessment tax collection for which traders are unable to get certificates was an area of concern, which the acting Chairman says is being addressed
