Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has mourned the death of a revered son of the soil, former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, who passed away this weekend.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the Governor said the late Arase was an illustrious Edo son and a national figure whose contributions to Nigeria’s security architecture remain indelible.

Governor Okpebholo noted that Edo State has lost a great mind, a devoted public servant, and an outstanding leader.

He described the late IGP as a man of integrity and honour who rose to the pinnacle of his career through diligence, hard work, and commitment to service.

He recalled Arase’s distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force, highlighting his tenure as the 18th Inspector-General of Police, which was marked by significant reforms, professionalism, and the promotion of community policing.

According to the Governor, Arase’s legacy of service will endure for generations, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration to young police officers and aspiring leaders across the nation.

Governor Okpebholo extended heartfelt condolences to the Arase family and the entire Nigeria Police Force, noting that the people of Edo and Nigeria at large take solace in the fact that he lived a purposeful life and left behind enduring legacies.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of Arase’s soul and asked God Almighty to grant his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
