The Nigerian Government has welcomed the sentencing of self-styled pro biafra agitator Simon Ekpa by a District court in Finland over terrorism offences.
Minister of information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris in a statement described the ruling as a watershed moment for innocent Nigerian lives whose livelihoods have been distrupted by the reign of terror incited by Ekpa and his collaborators and strengthened bilateral relations between Nigeria and Finland.
The statement said the judgement has also vindicated Nigerias position on the matter while sending strong signal to extremists that justice will catch up with them anywhere.

It urged anyone taking arms under the misguidance of Simon Ekpa to lay them down and tow he path of peace for the overall progress of the country.
The Minister assured that the federal Government will continue to defend the sovereignty of the country and protect the dignity of all citizens and will not fail to mobilise resources, diplomatic, military and judicial means to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria against destructive agenda.
