Gov. Alia Lifts Suspension On 3 Benue Public Officials

The Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has supported the decision of the Benue State House of Assembly to lift the suspensions earlier placed on 3 public officials of the state.

The Governor had on the 20th August, 2025 upheld the resolution of the house to suspend the following persons;

Maxwell Ogiri – Executive Chairman, Otukpo Local Government Area, Grace Adagba –the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Michael Uper – Executive Secretary, Benue State Lottery Commission.

However, during plenary on the 25th August 2025, the House under the new Speaker, Alfred Emberga passed another resolution lifting the suspension.

In compliance with the resolutions of the House, His Excellency hereby directs the immediate reinstatement of the affected officials.

A statement by his chief press secretary Tersoo Kula reaffirmed his respect for the constitutional roles of the legislature and reiterates his administration’s resolve to continue working harmoniously with all arms of government in the collective pursuit of peace, progress, and good governance in Benue State.

He charged the reinstated officers to rededicate themselves to their duties, uphold the highest standards of accountability, and work diligently in the interest of the people.

He appreciated the understanding and support of the people of Benue State and assures them of his continued commitment to building a transparent, responsive, and people-centered administration.
