Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima has directed the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU) to expedite action in the disbursement of the Federal Government’s N250 billion credit support for smallholder farmers at a single-digit interest rate.

The presidential directive aims to ensure timely access to funds for farmers in need.
‎
‎Vice President Shettima expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for providing political cover to the PFSCU, enabling bold actions on fertilizer liberalization and seed funding initiatives.

These supports underscore the government’s commitment to boosting Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
‎
‎The Vice President instructed PFSCU to develop an implementation roadmap for disbursing the N250 billion loan facility through the Bank of Agriculture.

He emphasized the need to avoid delays and ensure the funds reach target beneficiaries, particularly smallholder farmers.
‎
‎Senator Shettima’s directive is part of efforts to enhance Nigeria’s food systems and support farmers.

The initiative of the N250 billion credit support for smallholder farmers at a single-digit interest rate, reflects the Nigerian Federal government’s focus on agriculture as a key driver of economic growth and food security, aligning with broader national development objectives.
