Niger State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has vowed to make the state a hot zone for illegal miners, vandals and other criminals.
NSCDC State Commandant, Suberu Aniviye who read the riot act while parading 5 suspected illegal miners and their exhibits at the command headquarters in Minna, said the suspects were arrested while carrying out the illegal act.
This latest arrest came less than 3 days after other illegal miners and 9 suspected telecommunications mast vandals were arrested as they loaded the items onto a truck.

According to the commandant, the suspects were grabbed at Zuzungi, around the Kataeregi area in Katcha local Area of the state by marshalls, acting on intelligence.
Aniviye vowed to sustain the tempo of making Niger state uncomfortable for illegal miners vandals and other criminals, assuring the corps will work in conjunction with other security operatives to achieve that.
