As Nigeria launches the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine, the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, and other partners have assured that no child out of the over 3 million to be vaccinated will be left out.

The Chief of Kaduna Field Office, Gerida Birukila, who gave the assurance during a one-day engagement with stakeholders, including media professionals, said hard-to-reach local government areas will be captured.

The engagement with the media professionals is aimed at emphasising the critical role of the media in the campaign, especially in the area of awareness and sensitisation.

The Chief of Kaduna Field Office, Gerida Birukila, who was represented by UNICEF Health Specialist, Ahmed Tsofo, said the media has a critical role to play in the campaign for Measles-Rubella Vaccine.

While urging the media to counter myths and disinformation with facts and data delivered in clear, relatable language, Birukila appealed to professionals to amplify accurate information so that parents know vaccines are safe, effective, paid for by the governments and provided at no additional charge.

Earlier, the Incident Manager of the Niger State Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Fatima Ibrahim said the Measles-Rubella vaccine is another vital step toward enhancing public health.

Niger State Governor Umar Bago has officially endorsed the campaign, emphasising the serious implications of measles and rubella, affirming the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, and adding that it provides essential protection against both diseases.
