Forty one (41) families of police officers who lost their lives in active service in kogi state have been presented with cheques totalling twenty-four million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, three hundred and forty-eight naira, sixty-three kobo (₦24,999,348.63).

This significant payout falls under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, designed to provide financial relief and support to the bereaved families of officers who paid the supreme price while protecting the nation.

Kogi State Police Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, during the presentation of the cheques on Thursday in Lokoja, commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, for his steadfast dedication, compassion, and relentless efforts in prioritising the welfare of serving and fallen officers.

CP Dantawaye counselled the beneficiaries to be prudent in the utilisation of the funds, and encouraged them to invest in sustainable ventures such as education, small-scale businesses, or housing that would secure long-term family stability and honour the legacies of the departed officers.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mohammed Sanusi, son of a late officer, conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to IGP Kayode Egbetokun for his empathetic gesture, emphasising its transformative impact on their lives amid grief.

He pledged responsible stewardship of the funds to improve education, health, and overall welfare of families of the late Police officers, and ensuring the support yields enduring benefits.
