Voting in Niger State LG elections

Voting commenced in the early hours of Saturday, November 1 in the local government elections in Niger State, North-Central Nigeria.

The election started at exactly 8.30am at Tudun Fulani 2 in Bosso, but voter turnout was low as in the case with Chanchaga, Tundun Wada North.

At Tudun Fulani 1, voting began at 10.00am, while the exercise commenced at the City Gate Open Space polling unit by 8.30am, but also recorded voter apathy.

At the Area Court Mekunkele polling unit, voting commenced at about 9.00am, just as at polling unit 32 at Abdulsalam Park in Tundun Wada North, with both recording low turnout of voters.

Most of the polling units started a bit late, but the atmosphere remained calm as some youths in the area organised themselves to help maintain security and order.

The major streets were also deserted as the enforcement of the restriction of movement was in force, with security agencies seen on patrol around flashpoint areas.

Meanwhile, the election was conducted using the manual accreditation mode.
