Troops Deal Fatal Blow on Terrorist Attacking With Armed Drones, Mortars

Terrorists have attacked Forward Operating Base, FOB Kangar, at Mallamfatori with armed drones and mortars.

The attack was defeated by gallant Nigerian troops supported by the Nigerien Fighter Ground Attack platforms.

According to the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force, (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba the military have so far confirmed 6 terrorists neutralised, while 5 AK-47 rifles, 8 AK-47 rifle magazines, 258 rounds of 77.62 mm, 5 RPG bombs, 4 armed drone bombs were recovered.

Also retrieved from the terrorists are 5 hand grenades, 2 bandoliers and one Android phone, while several other terrorists’ bodies were evacuated by their colleagues. as they withdrew in disarray into the waterways of the Tumbuns.

It was learnt that the Nigerien Air Force further conducted follow-on strikes on the retreating terrorists, neutralising scores of the gunmen.

According to Lt. Col Sani Uba, Troops’ operational morale and fighting efficiency remain high, while Multinational Joint Task Force platforms were also alerted to provide additional Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, ISR situational awareness to troops, and to airlift the wounded, who are all in stable condition.

According to him, Exploitation of the waterways continues by the resilient troops.
