Dr. Wole Oluyede, a renowned medical practitioner, has emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election, which took place Saturday in Ekiti State.
The PDP Primary Election, which drew thousands of party supporters to the election venue in Ado-Ekiti, saw 535 delegates from 177 wards cast their votes for their preferred candidates during the exercise which lasted several hours .
Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee after the voting exercise ended declared Oluyede the winner with 279 votes, defeating his closest rival ,Funso Ayeni who polled 239 votes while Funmilayo Ogun garnered 17 votes.
Oluyede while appreciating party members for coming out enmasse to cast their support for him , described the outcome as a collective triumph for PDP members, praising the fairness and transparency of the process.
Funso Ayeni on the other hand alleged manipulation of the Electoral process as he promised to seek redress through internal mechanisms.
The PDP state Chairman, Tunji Odeyemi hailed the primary as a significant step towards reclaiming the state from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
