Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, Northwest Nigeria has received the State’s Sports contingents who won various trophies and medals at different sporting competitions held across the country.

At a reception organized in honour of the Sportsmen and women, Governor Aliyu commended the athletes and players for their commitment, dedication, and resilience, which led to their remarkable achievements in the competitions they participated in.

He assured them of his administration’s continued support toward ensuring improved performance in future engagements.

“You have made us proud, and the State is happy with your performance. Please keep the flag flying,” he said.

Governor Aliyu also announced the donation of a 36-seater bus to Sokoto United Football Club as part of efforts to address mobility challenges faced by the team.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mustafa Muhammad Kofar Marke, highlighted the achievements recorded by the teams. He said Rima Strikers clinched first position at the U-12 to U-15 Handball Championship held in Asaba, Delta State, while Rima Queens finished in second place.

He noted that during the Ardova Premier Games in Lagos, Rima Strikers secured second position while Rima Queens finished in third place.
