United States Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman, General Dan Caine on Thurday evening in Washington D.C met a delegation led by Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
The meeting, confirmed by two defence officials to American broadcaster ABC News, was not included on either Hegseth or Caine’s public schedules, and not open to the press.
The Nigerian delegation which includes the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and Chief of Defence Staff, General Femi Olukoyede has been in the U.S in the last couple of days

President Donald Trump’s threats to send U.S troops into the country with “guns-a-blazing” to “wipe out the Islamic Terrorists” said to be killing Christians, has been the bone of contention between Nigeria and the American government.
On Thursday, a Congressional hearing was held on the issue and the designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern.
