The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State Command, has called on stakeholders in the state to scale up efforts to reduce farmers–herders conflicts as part of measures to ensure sustainable peace and economic development in the country.
Ondo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Oluyemi Ibiloye, made the call at a stakeholders engagement and training focused on mitigating farmers–herders conflicts for sustainable peace.
Ibiloye said the Corps remains committed to peace-building and development, adding that the persistent clashes between farmers and herders are not peculiar to Ondo State alone.
According to him, the clashes have become a national challenge, and the NSCDC can not tackle it alone, as the complexity of the conflict requires the collective effort of all stakeholders.
Other stakeholders in the dialogue stressed the need for a peaceful and coordinated approach, backed by concrete actions and implementation strategies, to advance lasting peace.
