The Federal Government has distributed chemicals, fertilizer and improved seeds to 520 onion farmers who suffered losses as a result of recent flooding in Kebbi State.
The items were distributed to the beneficiaries in Birnin Kebbi, by the National Agricultural Development Fund, under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The Executive Secretary of the Fund, Muhammad Abu Ibrahim, represented by a Director, Professor Maryam Abubakar Koko, said the intervention served as significant steps towards recovery for losses incurred during the natural disaster.
He explained that the NADF in collaboration with states government and other stakeholders designed a targeted emergency intervention aimed at restoring production capacity, strengthening resilience and ensuring that farmers restart cultivation without delay.
Distributing the materials, Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris, represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Shehu Mu’azu, thanked the Federal Government for the timely intervention to assist onion farmers in the state to recoup losses.
