Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has given his administration’s commitment to the continuous support of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, to reposition the institution as a leading state-owned tertiary institution of repute.

Governor Okpebholo made this known while playing host to the management of Ambrose Alli University, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eunice Omonzejie, at the Government House, Benin City.

The Edo State Governor described AAU as very dear to him, assuring that the state Government would continue to provide the necessary support to reposition the institution and project it as one of the best universities in the country.
Governor Okpebholo expressed regret at the deplorable condition of the institution before his assumption in office.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Eunice Omonzejie in her response commended the state Governor for his unwavering support to the university through timely interventions. She particularly appreciated the increase in the institution’s monthly subvention from ₦41 million to ₦500 million and the inauguration of a Governing Council, among other critical measures.
She assured the Governor of the management’s commitment to the SHINE agenda of the present administration.

The Vice chancellor however highlighted some of the challenges the university is still facing including staff and students’ accommodation, and other infrastructural needs .
