President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State following the death of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday , the President sympathised with Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, as well as the wife of the late Deputy Governor, Barrister Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, his children, friends and associates
President Tinubu described the late Ewhrudjakpo as a selfless and patriotic public servant who made lasting contributions to the development of Bayelsa State and the nation at large.
He recalled that before becoming Deputy Governor, Ewhrudjakpo served meritoriously as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and later represented Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
The President noted that the late Deputy Governor left a strong legacy, particularly in the area of infrastructure development, while also contributing meaningfully to lawmaking and policy formulation at the federal level.
He urged the government and people of Bayelsa State to uphold and preserve the legacy of service and dedication exemplified by the late Ewhrudjakpo.
President Tinubu also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed’s soul and asked God to grant comfort and strength to his family and the people of Bayelsa State during this period of mourning.
