Gov. Uzodinma Proposes 1.4 Trillon Naira budget For 2026

Imo State Government has proposed a budget estimate of 1.4 trillion naira for 2026 fiscal year christened ” Budget of economic breakthrough” representing a 78% increase from the 2025 budget.

Presenting the budget before the State House of Assembly in Owerri the Imo capital, Governor Hope Uzodinma said the capital expenditure will gulp 83.4 percent of the total budget

A breakdown shows that 1.2 trillion naira capital expenditure which represents 83.4 percent of the total budget.

The Imo State Government intends to spend big in health, power, works and infrastructural development as 698 billion of the total budget has been appropriated for the Health sector.

Uzodinma reiterated his administration’s readiness to complete legacy projects of his administration.

Governor Uzodinma assured the people of economic breakthroughs through the light-up Imo project which will create over 100,000 jobs and empower downstream small enterprises.

Uzodimma however noted that the budget will present a limitless economic opportunities that will be attainable through electrification project, Orashi energy free trade zone, boost tourism, enhance agricultural investments and revitalization of moribund industries.
