The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 55,000 personnel to safeguard government critical national assets and infrastructure before, during, and after the Christmas and New Year festivities.
A statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Afolabi Babawale, States that the move is in a bid to ensure public safety and help tackle insecurity across the country.
According to the Press statement, the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi who ordered the deployment, noted that it was necessary to help enhance the security architecture of the nation, as criminal-minded persons take advantage of the festive periods to carry out their sinister activities.
Audi emphasised that security threats like banditry, kidnapping, farmer-herder clashes, terrorism, and insurgency would be effectively tackled if the citizens imbibe the habit of giving credible and sustained intelligence that would lead to the arrests of those who have conducted themselves as threats to the nation’s security.
