Allow Christmas values of love, peace guide your conduct, Tinubu to Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, religious tolerance and national unity as Christians across the country celebrate Christmas.

The President In his 2025 Christmas goodwill message on Wednesday, said the season offers an opportunity for reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ and His message of grace, hope and goodwill to humanity.

He urged Nigerians to allow the values of love and peace associated with Christmas to guide their conduct toward one another, particularly across religious and ethnic lines.

President Tinubu extended Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and around the world, while offering prayers for peace in the country.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians, regardless of faith.

“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence,” he said.

The President acknowledged the contributions of Christians to Nigeria’s development, noting that the teachings of Christ have inspired many to care for the vulnerable and less privileged, as well as promote peace, harmony and tolerance in their communities.

He also reassured Nigerians that since assuming office in 2023, his government has remained steadfast in safeguarding the security, unity and stability of the nation, in line with the Constitution.

According to him, every Nigerian has the right to live, worship and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity.

President Tinubu emphasised that no citizen should suffer discrimination or violence because of their faith, stressing that love for God and love for humanity are shared values across religions and must continue to bind Nigerians together.

Reflecting on his engagements with leaders of the country’s major faiths during the year, the President said his administration would continue to strengthen collaboration with religious institutions to prevent conflict and promote peaceful coexistence.

He also advised Nigerians travelling during the festive period to exercise patience and observe traffic rules, wishing all travellers safe journeys and returns.

The President expressed optimism about the country’s future, saying that with faith in God and collective effort, Nigeria would continue on the path of progress.

He wished Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year ahead.
