Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight suspects for breach of public peace, unlawful assembly, obstruction of traffic, and assault on its personnel following a disturbance caused by a group in Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
This was made known in a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DCP Oluseyi Babaseyi made available to journalists. It explained that the group, agitating under the aegis of “Democratic Republic of the Yoruba”, had on Christmas Day, barricaded roads, set bonfires, disrupted traffic, and attacked police officers deployed to maintain law and order at Temidire Junction and Under-Bridge, in Sango-Ota.

The Police said operatives mobilised to the scene, dispersed the group, and arrested the suspects, including Adewale Sosanya, Opeyemi Oladotun, Zara Gabriel, Ajoke Gabriel, Adewale Adebomojo, Yusuf Tanimowo, Olurotimi Ademola, and Toyin Gabriel.

Exhibits recovered include a Toyota Dyna vehicle, broadcast speakers, flags, shirts, and banners displaying the group’s messages and manifesto.
The police said the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
