Promises Governors made in their 2026 new year messages

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm and heart-felt felicitations to people of Delta State as they usher in the Year 2026. He expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty for His protection, grace and sustaining presence over the people and the state throughout the past year.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the Governor described the New Year as a season of renewed hope, fresh beginnings and collective responsibility.

Oborevwori acknowledged the sacrifices, resilience and patience displayed by Delta State people, noting that the modest but impactful gains recorded across key sectors of the state were made possible by the people’s enduring spirit, peaceful disposition and shared commitment to progress.

Governor Oborevwori assured that the pains, hopes and aspirations of the people remained at the heart of his administration’s policies, reaffirming that in the New Year, government would deepen its focus on good governance, infrastructural renewal, job creation, youth empowerment, enhanced security and inclusive economic growth in line with the “MORE Agenda”.

The Governor appealed to political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration with the government, noting that the task of building a stronger, fairer and more prosperous Delta State must be pursued as a shared responsibility.

While wishing the people a prosperous, peaceful and fulfilling New Year, Governor Oborevwori expressed renewed faith in the collective destiny of the state, assuring that his administration would remain steadfast in delivering people-oriented policies and projects aimed at improving the quality of life and positioning Delta State firmly on a path of sustainable growth, hope and shared prosperity.

In Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri, in his new year broadcast reassured residents of the state of sustained development and improved infrastructure in 2026 as he highlighted key projects already captured in the budget.

Governor Diri joined family members and residents in Sampou, his country home in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area, to welcome 2026 in a moment of reflection and hope.

With 2026 here, he assures the people that his administration was on course to better their living conditions and expressed optimism that the New Year brings renewed progress and deeper dividends of democracy.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure, improved healthcare, and people-centred policies, assuring that projects outlined in the 2026 budget will be pursued with diligence.

Meanwhile, Governor Bala Mohammed, has congratulated the people of Bauchi State and Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 New Year, thanking God Almighty for guiding the state and the nation through the challenges of 2025.

In a New Year message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor described the entry into 2026 as an act of divine grace.

He noted that despite economic, political, and social challenges, the people of Bauchi State remained resilient, steadfast, and prayerful.

Governor Mohammed commended citizens for their patience and perseverance in the face of economic hardship, assuring them that his administration would continue to provide palliative support while pursuing sustainable and long-term economic solutions.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of the recently held Investment and Economic Summit to accelerate economic growth and social development across Bauchi State.

The Governor further assured residents that as his administration approaches the end of its second and final tenure, it remains committed to delivering key infrastructural and social projects.

He highlighted ongoing interventions in road construction, housing, urban renewal, education, agriculture, economic empowerment, and youth development.

On security and political stability, Governor Mohammed warned that Bauchi State would not serve as a safe haven for criminal elements.

He called on citizens to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and urged political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections to conduct themselves peacefully and in accordance with the Electoral Act, while wishing residents a peaceful and prosperous 2026.
