Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has signed into law the State’s 2026 Appropriation Bill, unveiling what he described as “a people-focused spending plan” aimed at rural development, livelihood support, and a sustained economic growth.
‎
The ‎Governor signed the bill into law with budget of N695.1 billion shortly after its passage by the State House of Assembly.

Alia had earlier presented the proposed estimates of N605.5 billion to the lawmakers who after evaluation increased the sum by N89.5 billion before passage.

Governor Alia then delivered the new year message to the people of the State.

Meanwhile, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N1.47 trillion into law.

Governor Yusuf assented to the budget during a meeting of the Kano State Executive Council held at the Government House in Kano.

The Kano State 2026 budget, tagged “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusiveness, Growth and Sustainable Development,” was presented to the State House of Assembly on the 19th of November.

After deliberations and inputs by lawmakers, the proposal received legislative approval with a slight increase.

Speaking before the budget was signed, the Assembly Speaker, Ismail Falgore, said the lawmakers approved the budget to provide the executive arm with the legal backing required to sustain all-round development across the state.

Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to members of the House of Assembly for their legislative support, which he said has contributed significantly to the development recorded in the state.

The N1.47 trillion budget is the highest ever presented in Kano State and the wider region, with expectations of significant socio-economic gains for residents.
