The Niger State government has expressed sadness over the terrorist attack on communities in the Borgu and Agwara local government areas of the state.
The message was delivered through the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, describing it as cruel and nefarious.
According to him, the victims of the attack are Christians and Muslims drawn from different communities, resulting in the deaths of many people, kidnapping of several others, and the destruction of livelihoods.
The government further extends its sympathy to the people of the affected communities, especially the victims and their families.
The statement notes that it is disturbing and worrying to start the year with such unfortunate incidents and urged the people to remain resolute in God and know that the present administration is collaborating with the federal government and security agencies to improve the security of the affected areas.
The government, therefore, hinted that a joint security team is trailing the terrorists with a view to rescuing the kidnapped victims.
