Rivers State House of Assembly is holding an emergency sitting in Port Harcourt to begin fresh round of impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu.
Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule said 26 members have signed and presented an impeachment motion against Governor Fubara and his deputy over non-presentation of the 2026 budget and spending public money not appropriated by lawmakers.

This is the second impeachment motion to be raised against Governor Fubara since his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
