A Rivers State High Court of Oyigbo local government area, sitting in Port Harcourt has issued an interim injunction against the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Chike-Amaewhule, and 32 others, including the Clerk of the House and the Chief Judge of Rivers State.
The presiding judge, Justice F.A. Fiberesima, granted the order following an ex parte motion filed in two separate suits by Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Nma-Ordu.
The injunction specifically restrains the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, from
Receiving, forwarding, or considering any request or resolution regarding articles of impeachment or
act on any communication from the 1st to 27th defendants aimed at constituting a panel to investigate allegations of misconduct against the Governor and Deputy Governor.

While the order will remain effective for seven days, the court granted leave for the claimants to serve the interim order and originating processes for Suit No. OYHC/7CS/2026 and Suit No. OYHC/6/CS/2026 on the
1st to 31st Defendant at the gate of the Rivers State Assembly Quarters .
The order for the 32nd Defendant (Chief Judge) wiill be served through any staff of the Judiciary at the Chief Judge’s Chambers within the High Court premises.
Justice Fiberesima, also adjourned the matter to January 23, 2026, for the hearing of the pending case
