The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has condemned the killing of a Nigerian national, Emeka Christian, in Pune, India, describing the incident as tragic and senseless.

According to the Commission, Emeka Christian was allegedly beaten to death following a romantic dispute involving two fellow Nigerians identified as Chukwudi Okafor (31) and Samuel Eze.

In a statement, the Chairman of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, expressed deep condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, saying the Commission shares in their grief.

NiDCOM called on relevant Indian authorities to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, urging that justice be served promptly and without prejudice.

The Commission also advised Nigerians living abroad to remain law-abiding, resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue, and avoid actions that could lead to loss of life or legal consequences.

Dabiri-Erewa reminded Nigerians in the diaspora that they are ambassadors of the country, noting that their conduct abroad reflects directly on Nigeria’s image, and urged them to uphold unity, respect for the law, and responsible behavior at all times.
