The Kabiru Turaki- led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the APC-led Federal Government to immediately commence comprehensive rescue operations on the 163 worshippers who were kidnapped during a Church service in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday.

The Party which said this in a Statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong stated that it is convinced that if State policing had been operational, the criminals may not have successfully operated with such impunity and taken the large number of people captive.

It said the Federal Government must urgently double its efforts at combating banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the country.

The PDP urged Tinubu’s Government not to dramatize the sad situation in the way it did with the Niger school kidnapping, where Media optics prevailed over identity protection and safeguarding during the rescue and return processes of the victims as it adds that the abduction of the 163 Nigerians from their places of worship is a sad reminder of the normalisation of insecurity which it says has become the new reality of Nigerians due to the horrifying security failure under the Tinubu APC-led government.

The Party further observed that the frequent attacks on worshippers in their places of worship, irrespective of religion, represent the inability of the Tinubu’s government to protect the constitutionally enshrined right to freedom of worship, adding that Nigerians must not live in fear when going to churches or mosques to worship. The Party says the entrenchment of such brazen criminality under Tinubu’s administration is totally unacceptable.

The opposition Party asked President Tinubu to concentrate on fixing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, instead of spending millions of taxpayers’ money on international image laundering campaigns to change narratives abroad as families suffering the tragedies will communicate their pain regardless of how much money is spent on image management.

The PDP extends its sympathy to the families of the 163 kidnapped Worshipers, saying its prayers are with them during this agonizing period of uncertainty.
