Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has charged Youths of the oil-rich State to see agriculture not as a last resort, but as a business and a pathway to prosperity.

Governor Fubara made the remarks during the launch of the Farm-to-future projects, an agribusiness training scheme targeted at bridging the unemployment gap amongst the youths and providing  sustainable food security in the State.

It is an agribusiness training programme designed to equip Rivers State youths with the passion and interest in agriculture, practical skills and entrepreneurial capacity across various agricultural value chains, including but not limited to Poultry production, Piggery, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Mushroom production.

Launching the program, Governor Sim Fubara who was represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Victor Kii said the programme was carefully designed to address a critical gap such as the disconnect between learning and practice.

He said the programme, will cover a wide range of agricultural value chains.

He further stated that the programme is a reflection of the Rivers State Government commitment to empowering farmers and agripreneurs, in alignment with the Renewed Hope Initiative championed nationwide by the Wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu to address food insecurity and promote economic resilience in the country.

Beneficiaries of the first batch of the program commended the State government on the initiative and promised to put the knowledge acquired to good use.

The State government warned that only beneficiaries who have demonstrated seriousness, commitment, and proper setup will qualify for subsequent empowerment.
