Delta State Government said it has successfully handled several cases of abuse, defilements, rapes and trafficking for prostitution since the inauguration of its Child Rights Implementation Committee in 2020.
The Chairman of the Delta state Child Rights Implementation Committee and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Kevwe Agas who made this known in Asaba during a press conference said the feat is not without some hindrances.
She said some of the difficult task were the case of truancy, street beggars who she said will are mostly non-Deltans and will be repatriated to their states.
According to Kevwe, year 2022 will witness the enforcement of the Child Rights Act of 2003 domisticated in the state in 2009 with its 4 components of rights of the child-survival, Development, Participation and Protection
She listed the success of the implementation committee to include re-unification and engagement in skills acquisition.
