The decision was taken at the Council’s 110th meeting held on January 13 and 14, 2026, and presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, GCON.

This was contained in a statement release by the Council’s Deputy Director of Information, Kemi Babalola.

According to the NJC, the recommendations were initially delayed pending the receipt of security reports on the candidates.

However, having received the reports with no adverse findings, the Council on January 22, 2026, formally forwarded the names to the President for appointment.

The recommended candidates are;
Suleiman Amida Hassan, Muhammad Barau Saidu, Igboko Chinelo Conchita, Onuegbu Chioma Angela, Galumje Edingah, Ibrahim Vera Eneabo, Abubakar Musa Usman, Salihu Aisha Yunusa, Ikpeme Joy Bassey, Shehu Umaru Adamu, Mohammed Ibrahim Buba, Eigege-Binjin Nendelmum Judith, Usoro Kuyik Uduak, and Nwoye Osinachi Donatus.

The appointments are subject to presidential approval in line with constitutional provisions.
