Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has taken over the criminal charge filed against Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, thereby stalling his arraignment scheduled to go on this Monday.
The trial court, however, adjourned to February 24 at the request of the AGF, to enable him review the case file.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC had filed a forgery allegation charge against Ozekhome, in a disputed property case in the United Kingdom.
In the three-count charge, Ozekhome is accused of presenting forged documents, including a Nigerian international passport, to support his claim of ownership of a property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX, during proceedings before the London First-Tier Tribunal.
According to the charge, the alleged offences were committed sometime in August 2021 in the Maitama area of the nation’s capital, within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court.
