The All Progressives Congress has excluded Rivers, two other states and the Federal Capital Territory from participating in party congresses scheduled for February 18, 2026

Addressing newsmen after the 183rd National Working Committee meeting of APC, National Publicity Secretary of the party Felix Morka and National Secretary Ajibola Bashiru also stated that the membership e-registration exercise has been extended from January 31 to February 8, 2026.

Rivers State has been in the eye of the storm politically for sometime. So, the exclusion of the oil rich state from the APC Congresses including Osun, Ekiti and FcT is bound to raise dust. National Publicity Secretary of APC Felix Morka explains the rationale for the latest development.

Despite hitting the 7millioon membership mark through e-registration, according to National Secretary Ajibola Bashiru, the request by members for more time has made it imperative to extend the date.

The party also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to borrow a leaf from the APC and base Nigeria voter register on the National Identification Number (NIN).
