Following growing security concerns in parts of the state, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has ordered the immediate closure of schools across the state.
Confirming the development in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said the temporary closure of schools is a preventive measure to protect pupils, students, and teachers.
Fanwo explained that the decision was based on credible intelligence and the need to strengthen security around educational institutions.
He stressed that the action was not borne out of panic but a demonstration of responsible leadership, noting that the government prefers to act proactively rather than wait for avoidable security incidents.
According to the commissioner, Governor Ododo has directed all relevant security agencies and stakeholders to immediately put modalities in place to ensure schools resume academic activities as soon as it is safe to do so.
