Retired civil servants in Zamfara State can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the payment of long-outstanding gratuities.
The approval covers retirees owed from January 2024 to September 2025.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Dantawasa, said the move is part of ongoing reforms to strengthen public service welfare in the state.
Funds for the payment are expected to be released soon, with payments to be made in two batches, according to an official government statement
It adds that it is a key component of Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission Agenda, which prioritizes workers’ welfare, fiscal responsibility, and social justice.
The government also assured retirees that no beneficiary is required to seek favours or pay anyone to receive their entitlement, stressing that all verified beneficiaries will be paid without discrimination.
