Tottenham have sacked head coach Thomas Frank after just under eight months in charge following Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United.
Spurs are 16th in the premier league, just five points above the relegation zone, and are winless in their last eight league matches managing only two wins in their past 17 games.
In a statement, the club said they were determined to support Frank’s long-term project, recent results made a change necessary.
The dane, who took over in June on a deal until 2028, guided Spurs to the champions league last 16 but failed to improve their domestic form, with early exits in both cup competitions.
Tottenham say a new appointment will be announced in due course.
Meanwhile Chelsea missed the chance to break into the top four after surrendering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Leeds united at stamford bridge.
João Pedro gave the blues the lead in the 24th minute, and Cole Palmer doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 58th minute as Chelsea looked to be cruising.
However, Leeds responded strongly. Lukas pulled one back in the 67th minute before Swiss international of Nigerian descent, Noah Okafor, completed the comeback in the 73rd minute to ensure the spoils were shared.
At the London stadium, there was late drama as Benjamin Seško rescued Manchester united with an injury-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw against west ham.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth secured maximum points on the road with a 2-1 victory over Everton.
Action continues today, Manchester city, Liverpool, Fulham and Aston Villa are all in action.
