The National Peace Committee (NPC) has pledged unreserved support to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the Federal Capital Territory Council polls, the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections, and the 2027 general elections to ensure a peaceful process.
The Head of Secretariat of the National Peace Committee and Executive Director of the Kukah Centre, Aha Barkindo, made the pledge when he led a delegation to INEC headquarters on Wednesday. He urged all political parties and key stakeholders to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of elections.
Barkindo and his team expressed concern over the spate of insecurity in parts of the country and called on the Federal Government and security agencies to guarantee the protection of lives before, during, and after the polls.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, thanked the Peace Committee delegation and assured that the electoral body would work closely with stakeholders to deliver peaceful, transparent, and credible elections.
