Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed that it deployed operatives across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT during Saturday’s council elections.
In a statement released after the polls, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said the deployment was aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and curbing incidents of vote buying and other forms of the electoral malpractice.

According to the Commission, the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, had directed officers to maintain strict surveillance across all council areas to prevent financial inducements and related electoral offences.
The Commission noted that the operation formed part of its broader commitment to supporting credible and transparent elections in the country.
