The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo, Taraba State has apprehended a suspected gunrunner, found with high calibre weapons in Ibi Local Government Area of the State.
The Commander of the Army formation Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Akaliro said the arrest was a success as a result of collaboration with other security agencies in the State.
The suspected gunrunner concealed the sophisticated weapons in an old modelled 504 vehicle he was driving.
According to the Commander of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Taraba State, Brigadier General Akaliro, the guns are high calibre weapons that have the ability to cause large scale damage.
Brigadier General Akaliro said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was on transit, before his apprehension by vigilant soldiers in Taraba State.
He further explained that the arrest was also possible due to interagency collaborations with other security outfits in the State, and in line with the Chief Of Army Staff’s mandate to rid the country of criminal elements and their enablers.
Other items recovered from the suspect were several charms, naira notes, and phones.
