Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain youth empowerment initiatives through job creation and skills development programmes.
The Governor stated this when he hosted members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials to an IFTAR (breaking of fast) at the Presidential lodge in Sokoto.
He said since the inception of his administration, thousands of youths and women across the State have been trained in various vocational and entrepreneurial skills as part of deliberate efforts to reduce unemployment.
“It is our belief that the most effective way to reduce youth restiveness and crime is to ensure that our youths are gainfully employed”.
Governor Aliyu explained that this informed the establishment of the Ministry for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship, aimed at equipping young people with practical skills to become productive and self-reliant members of the society.
He disclosed that thousands of youths have so far benefitted from training programmes conducted through the Ministries of Local Government Affairs and Women Affairs, as well as the State Poverty Reduction Agency.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to all nooks and crannies of the State.
“Issues of security, religious affairs, education, healthcare delivery, water supply, as well as infrastructure development will continue to receive priority attention,” he added.
He commended the Commissioners, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants for their unwavering support and urged them to sustain the momentum to achieve greater success.

Governor Aliyu appealed to the people of the state to extend assistance to vulnerable groups and the less privileged during the holy month of Ramadan in order to earn Allah’s mercy and blessings.
The Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, commended the Governor for the numerous people-oriented projects being executed across the State.
He noted that what the Governor has achieved in just two years is far greater than what the immediate past PDP administration accomplished in its eight years in office.
He assured the Governor of the continued loyalty and support of Commissioners, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants at all times.
The SSG also applauded the Governor for hosting the Iftar, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of humility, simplicity, and inclusive leadership.
In Sokoto State, it is a long-standing tradition during the month of Ramadan for the Governor to host members of the three arms of government for Iftar.
Beyond its spiritual significance, the gathering promotes mutual respect and strengthens harmonious working relationships among the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary in the State.
