Suspected bandits have launched a deadly attack on a mosque in Dadinkowa community in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing four worshippers and leaving several others injured.

Community sources said the gunmen stormed the mosque while worshippers were gathered and opened fire indiscriminately inside the building.

According to the locals, the attackers arrived in the community heavily armed and moved straight to the mosque, where they unleashed terror on the worshippers.

Four worshippers were said to have died instantly from gunshot wounds sustained during the attack, while several others suffered varying degrees of injuries

The Kebbi State Police Command spokesman, Bashir Usman has however confirmed the death toll to be five worshippers, while three others were evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Usman told ait.live that the Police in collaboration with the military and local vigilante groups, have been deployed to the area to restore calm and maintain public order.
